The War Memorial Lights
Maynards were awarded the contract for this project. The contract was a partnership with 3 companies. Maynards did the lighting installation, Ridge did the lighting design and Architainment did the programming of the lights. There are 7 lights on the grass area in the semi-circle pointing in front of the memorial with colour as well as white lights.
Lights Up! The launch event was 11th November 2018. There was a moving commemorative service from 6pm by Reverend Andrew Spurr and songs and poems by Deborah Rose, Martin Riley and children from St Mary’s Primary School, Broadway inspired by interviews with older people. This was based on Bridging The Gap an intergenerational project. People were given out candles to hold.
About 300 people of all ages attended the event on a cold but clear night to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War One. The lights are permanent so they are there for all to see from dusk to 11pm.
How can you get involved?
